Paddy Power, the long-time brand ambassador for the bookie that bears his name, is busy turbo-charging ASX Sports, his fantasy sports trading exchange.

A “non-fungible token-enabled sports exchange”, no less, it’s the “next generation” of fantasy sports sites that allows punters to “buy and sell virtual shares in esports and fantasy players, reflecting their prices in real time based on player performance and fan demand”.

There are clearly people who know what all that means because ASX has raised €2.5 million in crowdfunding to date and is cranking up for a serious series A round in America as it looks to hook up with sports data crunchers and tier one pro sports leagues. It has signed a deal with Rugby Pass and Sky New Zealand to bring fantasy sports to rugby fans (a tough sell). It has also done beta testing with the Premier League in Britain.

ASX recently relocated its headquarters from Dublin to Miami (nice move, Paddy), hired Mike Griffin, the former commercial director of the Racing Post, as its managing director, and increased the payroll up to 30 staff.
